Dylan Dreyer Just Confirmed She’s Officially Divorced, and the Reason Her Mom Moved In Is the Sweetest Part

Dylan Dreyer is officially single. The Today show meteorologist and co-host revealed on Thursday that her divorce from ex-husband Brian Fichera is fully finalized, and she let the news slip in the most relatable way possible: while explaining why her mom has been living with her for months.

Chatting on her “Parent Chat” podcast, Dreyer answered the question her listeners have clearly been asking.

“Why does my mom live with me? What is happening in my house that I have now taken up residence and have my mom as a roommate? As you know, I’m recently divorced,” she said. “So, my mom has been staying with me for months at a time.”

It was the first time the 45-year-old publicly confirmed that the paperwork is done, and the casual way she dropped it into a parenting conversation felt very on brand for a mom of three who has been quietly navigating a huge life change in front of an audience.

The divorce was finalized months ago

Page Six confirmed exclusively that Dreyer and Fichera’s divorce was finalized on May 19. The outlet also confirmed that child support was discussed, though those details remain sealed. Page Six reported that Dreyer filed for divorce by March 10, 2026.

Dreyer and Fichera announced in July 2025 that they were going their separate ways after 13 years of marriage. At the time, the Today co-host assured her social media followers that she and Fichera wanted to remain the “closest of friends.”

“Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for another,” she said then.

The couple, who wed in 2012, share three sons: Calvin, 9, Oliver, 6, and Russell, 5.

“There was something we couldn’t fix”

Dreyer has been gradually opening up about the end of her marriage over the past year. During a November 2025 episode of the Today show, she sat down with Jenna Bush Hager and spoke candidly about what went wrong.

“There was something we couldn’t fix, so now we have reframed our relationship [so] that we are no longer husband and wife,” she said at the time.

She also talked about how “freeing” it felt when they finally made the decision, whether that meant working on the marriage or accepting that it was “broken.”

“All those things that are broken, I don’t hold them against you because we accepted they’re broken,” she noted.

And in a line that stuck with viewers, she added that she can be a better “friend” than a “wife” to Fichera. For anyone who has watched Dreyer light up the Today set for years, the honesty was striking. This was not a celebrity trying to spin the story. It was a mom being straight about a hard thing.

How she told the kids

One of the most touching details to emerge from that same November interview was how Dreyer and Fichera explained the split to their three boys. She asked her oldest son, Calvin, a simple question: “What do you think a family is?”

His answer? “Well, it’s a group of people that love each other.”

Dreyer told him, “That’s what we are. And we will always be that for you. But Mommy and Daddy work better as friends than as husband and wife.”

Then came the part that might make you reach for a tissue: Calvin, she said, does not care about the title. None of them do. “They are surrounded by love every single day,” she explained.

Putting the kids first, in action

Dreyer and Fichera have been walking the co-parenting talk. Despite the divorce, the whole family took a trip together to the Turks and Caicos this summer. It is the kind of move that sounds impossible on paper and deeply thoughtful in practice, especially with three young kids who just want mom and dad in the same place.

The split first surfaced publicly in the summer of 2025, and sources at the time told Page Six there was no divorce filing yet. Fifteen months later, the paperwork is long done, the co-parenting rhythm is established, and Dreyer is publicly marking the next chapter with her mom by her side.

Her mom moving in for months at a time says a lot about where Dreyer is right now. She is leaning on family. She is keeping life steady for Calvin, Oliver and Russell. And she is clearly finding peace in the arrangement, saying she has love for her family even in the chaos of starting over.

A new chapter, handled with grace

Through every public mention of the split, Dreyer has kept the same steady tone: sad but not bitter, honest but not oversharing. She has framed the divorce not as a failure but as a decision that brought clarity, and she has put the children’s wellbeing at the center of every conversation.

Page Six reached out to Dreyer’s team for comment on her Thursday podcast reveal. Whether or not more details come out, one thing is already clear: Dylan Dreyer is writing her own playbook for what a modern divorce looks like, and her mom, it seems, is holding the pen right alongside her.
