Charli XCX Just Canceled Her Arizona Concert at the Last Minute, and Her Goodbye Note to Fans Is Heartbreaking
Some concert cancellations arrive weeks in advance, with a neat apology and a rescheduled date attached. This one did not. On Tuesday night, just hours before she was due on stage, Charli XCX told fans she had completely lost her voice and would not be performing in Glendale, Arizona, the following evening. For everyone who had already made plans, booked hotels and arranged time off work, the news landed like a punch.
The 34-year-old British singer announced the decision through her Instagram Story on October 20, speaking directly to what she calls her “angels.” The show at Desert Diamond Arena on Wednesday, October 21, was meant to be the second to last date on the United States leg of her Music, Fashion, Film Tour. Instead, it will go down as the show that never happened.
The announcement nobody saw coming
Charli did not dress the news up. In her message she explained that she had been sick throughout the run of shows and that her voice had finally given out entirely.
“i have been fighting sickness throughout this run of shows and have now completely lost my voice”
She also addressed the one question every disappointed fan asks first: why not just postpone it? According to the singer, her team worked hard to find a new date at the venue but “ultimately were unable to.” She promised, though, that she would return to Arizona in the future.
Why she could not push through it
Singers cancel shows for all kinds of reasons, but losing your voice is the one that leaves no room for debate. Charli made that clear herself, writing that she puts everything she has into her live performances and that missing the show was breaking her heart.
“i put absolutely everything i have into my performances, both physically and emotionally, and it breaks me that i can’t be with you tomorrow”
Anyone who has watched a Charli XCX show knows she is not exaggerating. Her concerts are famously physical, high energy affairs, the kind where the performer is dancing as hard as the crowd. Performing that kind of show with no voice at all was never an option, no matter how much she wanted to be there.
What happens to your tickets now
Ticketmaster has officially marked the October 21 Glendale concert as canceled. Fans who bought their tickets through Ticketmaster will be refunded automatically to their original payment method. According to Ticketmaster’s cancellation policy, refunds generally appear within 14 to 21 days after they are processed. Anyone who purchased through a different seller should contact their original point of purchase to arrange a refund.
If you were planning to travel to Glendale, check your ticket provider’s confirmation emails in the coming days, and keep an eye on Charli’s official social media accounts for any updates.

Is the Las Vegas finale still on?
All eyes now turn to Friday, October 23. The show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas is the final United States stop on the Music, Fashion, Film Tour, and as of Wednesday morning it is still scheduled to go ahead. Charli told fans she is resting and hopes to recover in time to close out the tour properly.
“i am now resting ahead of the final show in vegas this friday. i want to be back onstage and finish this tour together with you”
Fans heading to Vegas should watch her social media closely over the next 48 hours. A voice can recover quickly with rest, but there is no guarantee, and nobody wants a repeat of the Glendale heartbreak.
A tour that has been running on fumes and adrenaline
The cancellation is the clearest sign yet of how punishing this tour has been. Charli kicked off the 12 date United States run in early September in Philadelphia and has barely stopped since, playing Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for two nights plus stops in Toronto, Atlanta, San Diego and Los Angeles. The Los Angeles weekend alone, on October 17 and 18, featured surprise guests including Chappell Roan performing “Boom Clap” and PinkPantheress performing her own song “Stateside.”
The tour is built around her eighth studio album, Music, Fashion, Film, which earned strong reviews including an A- from Paste. The same day she canceled the Glendale show, she also announced a new partnership with Absolut, which she had teased days earlier by wearing an “I Absolut” shirt during her Los Angeles performance.
It has been a relentless year for the “Brat” singer, and honestly, the wonder is that her voice held out this long. Touring at this level means late nights, loud arenas, constant travel and almost no real rest. Eventually the body sends the bill.
What comes next for the tour
The United States leg is scheduled to wrap in Las Vegas on Friday, assuming Charli recovers in time. After that, the Music, Fashion, Film Tour heads to Europe in February 2027, with dates planned in Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Amsterdam and Paris. The run is expected to close at the Accor Arena in Paris on February 24, 2027, with additional South American dates also planned for 2027.
For now, though, the priority is simple: rest. Charli closed her message with a line that showed exactly how much the cancellation hurt her, apologizing to her fans and acknowledging “how much time, planning, and care it takes to come to concerts.”
Glendale may have missed out this time, but if her track record is anything to go by, she will make it up to Arizona in a big way when she returns. Until then, rest that voice, Charli. Vegas is waiting.
