Heidi Klum Just Revealed Her 2026 Halloween Costume, and It Is a Giant Severed Hand With Her Own Wedding Ring on It
Every year, the same question follows Heidi Klum into October: what on earth is she going to be this time? On Saturday night, October 31, 2026, she finally gave the answer, and it was somehow even stranger than the guesses. Klum arrived at her annual Halloween party in New York dressed as a life sized severed manicured hand, complete with red painted fingernails, gold rings, and a gory gash at the wrist.
Yes, you read that right. A hand. A giant, bloody, beautifully manicured hand, with Klum’s own face popping out near the wrist and her legs forming two of the fingers. It was grotesque, it was funny, it was meticulously detailed, and it was so Heidi Klum that nobody in the room could have been surprised, even though everybody was.
The reveal: a hand, a gash, and a face at the wrist
Klum unveiled the look at Cathedrale in New York, where she hosts her famous annual Halloween party. The costume was not a simple bodysuit with a bit of fake blood splashed on top. It was a full build, with veins, painted skin texture, and prosthetics designed to sell the illusion from every angle. Her legs made up two of the fingers, which is the kind of detail that only makes sense once you see it, and then you cannot unsee it.
One detail stood out even among all that prosthetic work. Klum had incorporated her own wedding ring into the costume, wearing it as one of the pieces of jewelry on the giant hand. Her daughter Leni Klum, 22, spotted it straight away. Leni, who attended dressed as a glamorous Miss Piggy with a purple feather boa, pearls, and a pink snout, told USA TODAY that she loved the touch.
“I just saw my mom, I love that she added her wedding ring onto the costume. I think it’s sick, and I’m going to have a great night,” Leni said. She also gave her mother’s costumes the highest possible rating, calling them “always a 10” and adding that seeing one in person is far more impressive than seeing it in photos.
“To see it in person is so much cooler,” Leni said. “It always looks amazing, and I think everyone can agree with me.”
Months of work, and an idea she had last year
For Klum, the reveal was the payoff after months of secret work. She told USA TODAY on the blue carpet that she was feeling great, and that around 10 to 15 people had helped her get into the costume that day, while many more had been working on it for months already.
“I had this idea already last year, and they’ve been stewing on figuring out how to get me into this hand. And they’ve been building it, painting it,” she said, pointing out “all these little details, all the veins and everything.”
When she finally saw the finished result, even she was impressed. “It was wild when I saw it today, I was like, ‘Wow, it actually turned out exactly the way I wanted it.’ It’s so fun when you have a crazy idea and then it becomes reality.”

That long build explains why Klum says she usually spends more time getting ready than actually celebrating Halloween. Prosthetics on this scale take hours, and a costume shaped like a human body is not supposed to fit takes even longer. At her October 29 pre-party, she had given USA TODAY one last clue before the reveal: “My body is going to fit in a shape that normally a human body would not fit in.”
The one person missing: Tom Kaulitz, and the couples costume that got away
There was one notable absence at the party. Klum’s husband, Tom Kaulitz, who usually joins her in a coordinated costume, missed this year’s festivities because he is on tour. Klum had told Entertainment Tonight ahead of the party that Kaulitz was “not going to be here because he’s on tour sadly,” and that she would “miss him” and he would “miss the biggest party of the year.”
At the party itself, Klum could not resist pointing out the missed opportunity. “I thought this would have been a great couple’s costume, because if my husband could have been here he could have been the other hand,” she told USA TODAY. “Boom, it could have been like left hand, right hand. He could have been my right hand!”
Fans who remember Klum’s past couples costumes will know exactly what she meant. She and Kaulitz have dressed as Shrek and Princess Fiona, as a worm and a fisherman, and last year as Medusa and a soldier turned to stone. Klum makes the costume decisions in the household, by her own account. “Tom definitely does not have a final say in the couple costume or any kind of costume,” she said. “No, he totally lets me be the boss when it comes to costumes.”
Why this costume fits the Klum Halloween legend perfectly
Klum has been throwing her annual Halloween party since 2000, and over more than two decades she has built a reputation that no other celebrity Halloween host can touch. The list reads like a dare that keeps escalating: Jessica Rabbit, a clone of herself, Princess Fiona, a skinless body, an elderly woman, a giant worm, a peacock, E.T., and last year, a scaly green Medusa with a long tail and moving snakes for hair.
She is also famously unwilling to sit a year out. Asked about taking a year off, she replied: “Taking a year off? Are you crazy?” She once recalled spending three days in hospital before traveling to New York for her 14th annual party, dressed as an elderly woman. “I came straight out of the hospital, but I still went,” she said. “For me not to go? Yeah, that’s not gonna happen.”

The hand has spoken
For now, though, the hand has spoken, so to speak. Klum promised something bloody, strange, and unlike anything a human body is supposed to fit into, and she delivered it with red nails, gold rings, a wedding ring, and a grin. After more than two decades of Halloween transformations, she still found a way to surprise everyone, including herself.
And if you are wondering whether she would ever wear it again, remember what she said about her beloved worm costume: “I would definitely wear that over and over again.” Do not be shocked if the hand makes a comeback.
