John Boyega Has Been Secretly Married for Two Years, and His First Baby Is Already on the Way

John Boyega just dropped two pieces of life-changing news in one interview, and almost nobody saw either of them coming. The Star Wars actor has been married for nearly two years without telling the world, and his first biological child is on the way.

The 34-year-old British actor made the revelation in an interview with The Guardian published October 4, 2026, while promoting a new BBC Two documentary about the murder of his childhood friend Damilola Taylor. In one conversation, Boyega opened up about secret wedding vows, impending fatherhood, and the childhood trauma that is shaping how he plans to raise his own family.

“I’ve Been Married for Coming Up to Two Years Now”

The biggest surprise was how casually Boyega slipped the news in. “I’ve been married for coming up to two years now,” he told The Guardian, revealing that the ceremony was a small, private affair far from the cameras.

That means while fans were watching him on press tours and movie premieres, Boyega had quietly built an entire married life that nobody knew about. For an actor of his fame, keeping a marriage hidden for nearly two years is no small feat.

The wedding itself was intimate, but Boyega has big dreams for a proper celebration. “I would love to have a wedding celebration,” he said. “We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry. And by then, we’ll have to shut Nigeria down!”

The Nigeria reference is a nod to his roots. Boyega was born in London to Nigerian parents, and his heritage has always been central to his identity. A full-scale Nigerian celebration with family, music, and dancing is clearly on his wishlist for the future.

Who Is His Wife? The Tae Heckard Rumors

Boyega did not name his wife in the Guardian interview, and as of now her identity has not been officially confirmed. However, earlier in 2026, outlets including Bossip reported that the actress Tae Heckard may be the woman in question, after the two were spotted wearing matching wedding bands as far back as May 2026.

It is important to stress that Boyega has not confirmed this himself. For now, the identity of his wife remains one of Hollywood’s most quietly guarded secrets, and the Tae Heckard connection should be treated as unconfirmed speculation until Boyega says otherwise.

“My Baby’s on the Way. We Got a Baby Cooking.”

If the secret marriage was a bombshell, the second announcement landed even harder. “My baby’s on the way,” Boyega revealed. “We got a baby cooking.”

Boyega already has a young stepson, and he spoke about his blended family with obvious pride. “So, you know, my life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family,” he said.

The actor also shared the philosophy he wants to bring to fatherhood, and it was shaped by one of the most painful experiences of his life. “I just want to make sure I’m present, I’m consistent, and full of love,” he said.

The Childhood Trauma Behind the Words

Those words carry extra weight because of the documentary Boyega is promoting. The BBC Two film centers on Damilola Taylor, the 10-year-old boy who was stabbed in the leg and left to die in a stairwell in Peckham, South London, in November 2000.

Boyega was just 8 years old at the time, and he was one of the last people to see Damilola alive. The murder devastated their community, and its impact on Boyega has clearly never left him.

In the documentary’s opening scene, Boyega admits how hard the process was. “Speaking about it could possibly help. I haven’t revisited this in a long time,” he says. “Yeah, my heart is just beating.”

Growing up in Peckham with that trauma, Boyega told The Guardian, has directly shaped his priorities now that he is becoming a father himself. The connection between the boy who lost a friend and the man preparing to welcome a baby is the emotional heart of the whole interview.

Fans of celebrity family news will also want to read about Simu Liu’s secret wedding in France, another 2026 romance that caught everyone off guard, and Christy Carlson Romano’s shocking memoir confessions, which shows how childhood fame can leave deep scars.

De-centering His Career for Family

Boyega has been deliberately stepping back from the spotlight in recent years, and now the reason is clearer than ever. “I’ve tried to as much as possible, especially following periods when I’ve worked a lot, to de-centre my career,” he said.

This is a significant shift for an actor who exploded onto the global stage as Finn in 2015’s The Force Awakens. Boyega returned for The Last Jedi in 2017 and The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, becoming one of the most recognizable faces in the world’s biggest film franchise.

But fame came with pain. In a famous 2020 GQ interview, Boyega criticized Disney over how Finn’s role shrank across the trilogy. “Do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side,” he said at the time.

Is Finn Coming Back to Star Wars?

The timing of Boyega’s personal announcements is interesting because his Star Wars future is suddenly a hot topic again. At Megacon Orlando in March 2026, Boyega told fans he had spoken with Lucasfilm boss Dave Filoni, according to Variety.

A new Star Wars trilogy written by Simon Kinberg with Jon Watts directing is reportedly in development, continuing the Skywalker saga, with Daisy Ridley expected to return. Whether Finn will return too remains unconfirmed, but Boyega’s comments suggest the door is at least open.

From secret weddings to baby news to a possible return to a galaxy far, far away, John Boyega is quietly living one of the most interesting chapters of any young actor in Hollywood. And given how well he kept his marriage hidden for two years, the world may not hear about his growing family until he decides it is time.
