Tyler Cameron Just Revealed His Fiancée Is Pregnant on Live TV, and the Gender Reveal Left the Whole Ballroom in Tears
Dancing With the Stars has delivered its share of emotional moments over the years, but Tuesday night gave viewers one nobody saw coming. Midway through his Dedication Night routine, Tyler Cameron turned a tribute to his late mother into the biggest announcement of his life: he and fiancée Tate Madden are expecting their first child together. And before the night was over, the whole ballroom learned whether it is a boy or a girl.
The reveal came during the Week 6 episode of the ABC dance competition, which aired live on Tuesday, October 20. Cameron, 33, and his pro partner Sharna Burgess were performing a contemporary routine set to Ed Sheeran’s “Supermarket Flowers,” dedicated to Cameron’s late mother and, in his words, to “mothers everywhere.”
A Letter to His Mom, Read Out Loud
As the routine began, a voiceover played a letter Cameron had written to his mother, Andrea, who died suddenly in 2020 at the age of 55 following a brain aneurysm. The words played over the dance, and they started like any tribute, then quietly turned into something much bigger.
“Hey, mom, there’s so much I wish I could tell you. You would have loved the woman I’m going to marry. All the things that made you special, I found in her. She’s going to be the most incredible mama, just like you, and we’re going to have a baby. I can’t believe I’m going to be a dad. Wish you were here. Hope that I make you proud. I love you and I miss you, every day.”
Midway through the performance, Madden joined the two dancers on the floor as the special surprise guest of the night. The three of them finished the routine together, and the audience erupted before the judges even said a word.

In the days before the show, Cameron had quietly dropped hints that something was brewing. He told cameras he was dedicating the dance to his late mother and “moms everywhere” and introduced Madden, 33, as their special guest. He also posted a TikTok set to Justin Bieber’s song “Baby” with the caption “can’t wait to hit the floor with these 3,” then quickly changed it to “these 2,” brushing it off in the comments with a simple “typo oops.” Fans flooded the replies with pregnancy speculation. Turns out they were right.
Pink Confetti and a Baby Girl
Before the judges offered their feedback, co-host Alfonso Ribeiro took over the floor for the second half of the surprise. Cannons fired streams of bright pink confetti across the ballroom, revealing that the couple is having a baby girl. Cameron and Madden burst into tears in each other’s arms.

“I get to be a girl dad, what a gift,” Cameron said on stage, beaming. Speaking to People after the show, the couple said they are “so excited” about the pregnancy. “It’s going to change everything in our lives,” Cameron said. “Our parents gave us a great life, and I want us to give this little baby an even greater life. Everything that we learn from our families, I want to take the best of it and instill it into our kids.”
He added: “This is incredible. I get to be her husband soon and the father of a beautiful baby. Being a parent is the most important job in the world.”
Hours after the episode, Cameron shared a photo on his official Instagram page of himself kissing Madden’s baby bump, with the caption “Baby Cameron coming 2027.”
The Judges Could Not Hold It Together
The announcement visibly shook the judges’ table. Guest judge Kym Johnson, a two-time Mirrorball champion who joined Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli for the night, could relate to Cameron’s story, having never met her own husband’s parent before their wedding.
Bruno Tonioli praised the couple for “dancing with three hearts beating as one.” Carrie Ann Inaba commended Cameron for the way he opened his “expression and heart” through the dance. And Derek Hough, a fellow girl dad, was moved to tears by the news. “That sent me,” Hough said. “Get ready for your heart to explode.”
The routine earned Cameron and Burgess a 32 out of 40 from the judges. Given the night, the score felt like a footnote. In a twist for the first time this season, no one was eliminated on Dedication Night, so all ten couples will return next week, with this week’s scores carrying over.
A Love Story That Started Behind the Camera
Cameron and Madden met in 2022, when Cameron was filming his home renovation show, “Going Home with Tyler Cameron,” on which Madden worked as a photographer. The couple went public with their relationship in October 2024, and they have been engaged since. It has been a relatively private romance by reality TV standards, which made Tuesday’s very public announcement land even harder.
Cameron rose to fame as a contestant on “The Bachelorette,” and he has spent the seasons of “Dancing With the Stars” fighting at the back of the pack on the leaderboard. His Dedication Night performance was meant to honor his mother, whom he has spoken about often. He said he was heartbroken that she never got to meet Madden, and that he would never get to dance with her at his own wedding.
“Just like that she was gone,” he said of his mother’s sudden death in the rehearsal package. Through tears, he added that he feels like his mom put Madden in his life for a reason.
That thread ran through the whole evening. The contemporary trio with Burgess, the letter, the surprise guest spot, the confetti: it was a tribute, an announcement, and a gender reveal folded into a single four-minute routine. Whether the judges’ paddles mattered at all was the one thing nobody was discussing.
For Cameron, the season now has a completely different meaning. He came to the ballroom to learn to dance. He is leaving, quite literally, with a family.
