Diddy Was Just Moved to a New Prison After a Mysterious Head Injury, and the Reason Behind the Transfer Raises Even More Questions
Sean “Diddy” Combs is serving his sentence in a different prison as of this weekend. The 56 year old music mogul was transferred from the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania on Friday, October 16, and the move came just days after he suffered a bloody head injury behind bars.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed the transfer to multiple outlets, saying in a statement that Combs moved from Fort Dix to FCI Allenwood Low on Friday, October 16, 2026. As usual, the agency refused to say why, citing privacy, safety, and security reasons. Both facilities are low security prisons, which matters more than it sounds, because it means the government did not reclassify him as a higher risk inmate. They simply moved him.
What makes the timing impossible to ignore is what happened the weekend before. On Saturday, Combs was rushed to a hospital after suffering a head injury inside Fort Dix. PEOPLE reported the injury was not life threatening and that he was back in the prison the same day, after which he was placed in solitary confinement.
What Really Happened at Fort Dix
The exact cause of the head injury is where the story splits. Page Six exclusively reported on Tuesday that Combs had hit his head on a bunk bed, which sounds like a freak accident. But TMZ later alleged something far more dramatic: that Combs had gotten into an altercation with a convicted drug kingpin known as “Dudus,” whose real name is Christopher Coke.
According to TMZ, the fight reportedly broke out after NBC News published an explosive report exposing Combs’ alleged lifestyle behind bars. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has disputed the account of a fight, so the truth is murky. But the timing tells its own story. Trouble at Fort Dix started right after the NBC report landed, and now the mogul is in a different state.
A spokesperson for Combs, Juda Engelmayer, released a statement about the move on Friday. He said the team appreciates the Bureau of Prisons taking the safety and security of Combs and everyone involved seriously, and called the transfer from one low security facility to another an important distinction. He added that while the team cannot speak to the specific reasons behind the move, the decision appears consistent with safety and security in mind, and that they hope Combs can serve his time without unnecessary disruption.

The Lavish Life Report That Started It All
To understand why a transfer might have been necessary, you have to go back to the NBC News report from earlier this month. According to that report, four anonymous men in the same unit as Combs alleged that the rapper was living a shockingly comfortable life at Fort Dix. The claims included regular massages, top shelf alcohol, a cellphone, and other perks that no other inmate was getting.
The fallout was immediate. After the report aired, Combs was moved back into solitary confinement, and his projected release date was pushed back from January 21, 2028 to March 2, 2028. His team has always dismissed the luxury claims, with Engelmayer previously describing conditions as ordinary prison life. But the consequences were real all the same.
TMZ’s allegation is that the NBC exposure made other inmates angry at Combs, because his alleged perks got the rest of the unit in trouble. If that is true, staying at Fort Dix would have meant remaining in a place where he had become a target. Moving him would then be less about punishment and more about protection.
It is worth noting that Combs has had a pattern of friction during his sentence. Earlier this month, he was placed in the prison’s Special Housing Unit, essentially solitary confinement, following the NBC report. The transfer to Allenwood may simply be the Bureau of Prisons’ way of giving everyone a reset.
What We Know About His New Home
FCI Allenwood Low sits in central Pennsylvania and houses low security male inmates, much like Fort Dix did. The Bureau of Prisons has not said which housing unit Combs will be in, or what his day to day routine will look like there. One thing is certain: he will not be starting over completely, since both facilities operate under similar security rules.
What remains unclear is whether the transfer changes anything about his projected release. As of now, Combs is still expected to be released on March 2, 2028, a date that has already moved around twice. It was first set for June 2028, then moved up to January 21, 2028, before being pushed back again after the solitary confinement episode.
Combs is serving a roughly 50 month sentence after being convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, and his legal team has the conviction under appeal.

Where Things Stand Now
For a man who spent three decades building one of the most visible brands in music, Combs’ life has become a series of carefully worded statements from federal agencies and anonymous sourcing. The official line is that nothing unusual happened: an inmate was transferred between two low security facilities, and the Bureau does not discuss the details.
But the unofficial picture is harder to ignore. A head injury on Saturday. A hospital trip. Solitary confinement. Anonymous claims of massages and contraband. An alleged fight with a drug kingpin. And now, a transfer to a prison in a different state. Each piece has an official denial or a caveat attached, and yet they add up to a story that keeps getting stranger.
Whether Allenwood turns out to be a fresh start or just a new chapter of the same chaos, Combs’ team says the hope is simple: that he can serve his time without unnecessary disruption. Given the last two weeks, that might be the hardest sentence of all to complete.
