Eiza González Just Wore a See-Through Fendi Gown to the I Love Boosters Premiere, and the Red Carpet Was Not Ready

Friday night in London belonged to Eiza González. The Mexican actress arrived at the Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank for the international premiere of “I Love Boosters,” and the cameras forgot about everyone else within seconds. Her dress, a black lace and tulle creation from Fendi, was held up by the thinnest straps and built almost entirely out of see-through fabric. It was the kind of red carpet moment that gets screenshotted a million times before the screening even starts.

The gown comes from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut Fall/Winter 2026-2027 collection for Fendi, and it reportedly carries a $10,500 price tag. González posed against the festival’s colorful striped backdrop with her honey-brunette hair worn long and straight with a side part, her makeup kept dewy and natural. Every detail, down to the jewelry, was chosen to let the dress do the talking.

She was not the only star on the carpet. Naomi Ackie, Poppy Liu and director Boots Riley all walked the same premiere on the festival’s opening weekend, but by Saturday morning, González’s look was the one leading every fashion roundup. Here is everything about the night, the dress, and the strange, wild movie she showed up to promote.

The Dress, in Detail

Up close, the craftsmanship is what makes the gown work. The sleeveless bodice is corset-style, fitted at the waist, with delicate lace panels combining two Fendi laces, Cuneo and Bacche, over sheer fabric. The skirt is full black tulle, transparent enough to reveal her legs, and the back is cut open. The whole thing is held together by thin shoulder straps, giving it a barely-there finish that reads as lingerie-inspired couture from across the room.

Her styling team kept the rest of the look deliberately quiet. The jewelry was all silver-toned David Yurman: DY Mercer hoop earrings in sterling silver with pave-set diamonds, reportedly worth $4,800, a matching stud and extra pieces along the upper ear, plus an Albion ring in sterling silver with an 11mm faceted black onyx center stone surrounded by a pave diamond halo, retailing at $850. Black pointed-toe stiletto pumps finished the silhouette. Her makeup had a dewy finish that let her natural freckles show, with rosy gloss-finished lips and defined eyes.

The Movie Behind the Moment

González was at the 70th BFI London Film Festival, which runs from October 7 to October 18, for the international premiere of “I Love Boosters,” the second feature from director Boots Riley. His debut, “Sorry to Bother You,” screened at the same festival back in 2018. This one world-premiered at SXSW in March, and the London screening was its first outing outside the United States.

The film is an absurdist, anti-capitalist crime comedy built around The Velvet Gang, a crew of shoplifting “boosters” led by aspiring fashion designer Corvette, played by Keke Palmer. They target the boutiques of fashion entrepreneur Christie Smith, played by Demi Moore. The scheme turns personal when Smith steals one of Corvette’s own designs, and the gang decides to fight back. Naomi Ackie plays Sade and Taylour Paige plays Mariah, with LaKeith Stanfield, Will Poulter, Poppy Liu and Don Cheadle rounding out the cast. González plays Violeta.

Early reactions from the festival crowd have been loud. One review called the film absurd, unhinged and hilarious, saying Palmer and Moore steal the show, while describing González’s Violeta as weird yet memorable. The contrast between that scrappy character and the couture look González wore to the premiere is part of the fun.

From Teenage Telenovela to Festival Couture

González started acting at 16 in the children’s telenovela “Lola, érase una vez,” and she has spent the years since building one of the most interesting Hollywood careers of her generation. “Baby Driver” made her a household face, “I Care a Lot” showed her range, and “3 Body Problem” put her at the center of Netflix’s biggest sci-fi gamble. A Boots Riley film is exactly the kind of left-turn choice she keeps making, and it keeps paying off.

She has also quietly become one of the most reliable dressers on any red carpet she touches. This Fendi moment feels like a statement: a fashion house debut, a major festival premiere, and a look that will be on best-dressed lists for weeks. Chiuri’s first collection for Fendi is one of the most watched debuts in fashion this year, and having it land on a London red carpet on a star like González is a win for the house.

Why This Look Will Be Talked About All Weekend

The sheer-dress trend has been building for seasons, but this version, with its corsetry and couture lacework, feels more old-Hollywood than shock tactic. It is lingerie-inspired on paper and pure glamour in the photographs. Expect to see it topping every festival style ranking by Monday, and expect the fashion press to keep dissecting that lace for a while.
